5/19/2021 10:01:00 AM | Women's Water Polo
Brown University athletics will be recognizing its spring senior student-athletes throughout the months of March, April, May, and June. Senior student-athletes will be featured during the week on Brownbears.com and various social media platforms.
Name: Riley Hughes
Hometown: Evanston, Ill.
Sport: Women's Water Polo
Concentration: Education Studies
Accolades: Earned ACWPC All-Academic and CWPA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Favorite activity outside my sport:
Playing Nertz with my housemates and I love knitting.
Plans after graduation:
This summer, I'll be working at my Y summer camp as an Inclusion Specialist. After that, I'm not sure – so if anyone wants to hire me, I'm free in September!
Most memorable game:
Beating Harvard at home sophomore year. I wasn't able to play due to a concussion, but it was the first time I was allowed back on deck, so I was really excited. I had no reason to be nervous, so I put all of my energy into being the best cheerleader on the bench.
Accomplishment you are most proud of:
I helped create a class at Brown about fatphobia and diet culture – and I get to finally take it this semester with my amazing classmates.
