Throughout the month of May, Brown Athletics will celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month through a series of profiles. Over the course of the month, the Bears will recognize Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have made an impact on the university community and beyond.
Saurabh Kohli '08, Men's Tennis
Saurabh Kohli '08 left his native country India for the first time to attend Brown and compete for the men's tennis team, just like his older brother Sharad '99. Before attending Brown, Kohli had great success at the professional level and also held rankings at the junior level. Once on College Hill, Kohli helped the team win back-to-back Ivy League titles in 2005 and 2006. A key member of the team and strong leader, he helped captain the team as a senior. Over his four years he earned First Team All-Ivy honors twice, for doubles in 2007 and 2008. He was also a two-time Second Team selection, for doubles in 2006 and for singles in 2008. Kohli still ranks in Brown's all-time career record book, standing fifth in doubles wins (93), seventh in combined wins (72-93-165) and 11th in singles wins (72). For single season records, Kohli is second all-time at Brown in team doubles wins (28, 2005 with Eric Thomas), tied for fifth for doubles wins (31, 2005), tied for 15th for singles wins (25, 2007) and is 17th for combined wins (25-25-50, 2007).
