
Women’s History Month 2021: Ali Brewer ’00, Women’s Hockey

Throughout the month of March, Brown Athletics will celebrate Women's History Month through a series of profiles. Over the course of the month, the Bears will recognize women who have made an impact on the university community and beyond.
Ali Brewer '00, Women's Hockey
The most accomplished goaltender in the history of the Brown women's hockey program, Ali Brewer '00 won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2000 as the most outstanding player in women's collegiate hockey. She was named Ivy League Player of the Year and ECAC Goaltender of the Year her senior season, also earning First Team All-ECAC and All-Ivy recognition. Brewer was a three-time All-Ivy and All-ECAC recipient, and was named an AWCHA First Team All-American in 1999. She earned Academic All-Ivy honors in 1998 and 1999 and had the team's highest GPA for three straight seasons. Brewer holds almost every Brown goaltending record for a season or career. In her four seasons as the team's starting goalie, she posted a 1.37 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage, making 2,490 saves and posting 39 shutouts. She set records with a 0.94 GAA and .957 save percentage in her freshman season, 13 shutouts in her junior season, and 25 wins in her senior campaign. She also holds a record with five consecutive shutouts, set her junior season. Brewer helped lead the Bears to two ECAC championships, in 1998 and 2000, with Brewer earning MVP honors during the 2000 Championship. The Bears also played in the AWCHA Tournament three times from 1998-2000, finishing as the National Runner-Up twice. After a successful year-long stint with the U.S. Women's National Team, the Psychology and Organizational Behavior & Management concentrator spent four years working for Fidelity Investments in Boston. She later earned her MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently the Vice President Marketing at Wilson Sporting Goods Co.
