Women's swimming and diving starts Bruno Invite with strong showing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's swimming and diving earned four wins and nine top-three finishes in the first day of the Bruno Invite on Friday (Dec. 3). Brown sits in first in the four-team event after the first day.
The Bears earned wins in four of the five events that took place on the first day of the event and finished second in the fifth. Jenna Reznicek broke the school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.77 to lead off the 400 Medley Relay.
The night began with Samantha Scott, Kellie Willhite, Jenna Reznicek and Anna Podurgiel winning the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.70.
Sara Barrett earned the first individual win of the meet with a victory in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 4:52.57. Bella Antoniuk finished just behind Barrett with a second-place finish in 4:53.03. Three other Bears finished in the top-eight with Maria Iorini in fourth (4:58.88), Audrey Orange in fifth (5:00.41) and Emma Whall in eighth (5:02.16).
Four Bears finished in the finals of the 200 yard IM, led by a second-place finish from Miku Takabayashi with a time of 2:02.67. Audrey Lukawski finished third with a time of 2:04.57. Ellie Brault (2:04.84) and Evie Krall (2:07.71) finished fifth and eighth, respectively.
Scott picked up another win, this time in the 50 free, clocking a time of 23.22. Willhite finished just behind Scott, taking third in a time of 23.51.
The night finished with another relay win for the Bears with a victory by the team of Reznicek, Willhite, Bilgin and Scott winning the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:43.62. The team of Waterson, Lukawski, Matsushima and Podurgiel took third for Brown with a time of 3:47.86.
Brown will be back in the pool for day two of the Bruno Invite on Saturday (Dec. 4) with prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
