Men's swimming and diving beats Dartmouth to begin season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's swimming started its season with a win over Dartmouth to start its 2021-22 season on Saturday (Nov. 6). Michael Lincoln picked up a win in the 200 freestyle for the Bears.
The Bears earned a big win over Dartmouth beating the Big Green by a score of 237-59. In a separate dual meet against Princeton, Brown lost to the Tigers 97-203.
Lincoln earned the lone event win for the Bears on the day, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:38.71, winning by two-tenths of a second. Lincoln also finished second in the 100 free with a time of 45.32.
"We competed exceptionally well against a very talented, very deep Princeton team and picked up our first win of the season against Dartmouth," said head coach Kevin Norman. "There were a lot of tight races that could have swung either way, but ultimately I'm very pleased with the way we raced and think there is a lot to build off of moving forward."
Brown finished the day with multiple podium finishes. In the first individual event of the day, Aidan Wilson (9:25.73) and Mason Romantic (9:28.62) finished second and third in the 1000 freestyle, respectively.
In the 100 backstroke, Reid Arwood (49.97) and Zach Le-Nguyen (50.25) finished second and third. Arwood also finished second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:48.20.
Ben Hayes took home third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.45, and second in the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:02.98. Hayes also finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:51.68.
Horace Qiao was second in the men's 50 free, clocking a time of 20.98. Qiao also took second in the 100 butterfly touching the wall in 49.21.
Brown had two swimmers in the top-three in the 500 freestyle as Tyler Lu took second (4:35.56) and Andrew Berzolla finished in third (4:36.18).
Brown will be back in the pool against Penn on Saturday (Nov. 13) in Philadelphia, with the meet starting at 12 p.m.
