PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown wrestling coach Todd Beckerman has announced AJ Pedro, Cade Wilson, Jack Bokina, and Ricky Cabanillas will serve as captains during the 2021-22 season.
"We are thrilled to have AJ, Cade, Jack, and Ricky leading our program," Beckerman said. "They bring a unique combination of skills and leadership qualities that will benefit our team as a whole greatly. We are excited to see where they take this group."
This will be Pedro's second season serving as a captain after first earning the role for 2020-21. He represented the team at the EIWA Championships as a sophomore and is a two-time All-Academic selection.
Wilson, Bokina, and Cabanillas will all be serving as captains for the first time. Wilson owns 16 wins in his career and represented the team at the EIWA Championships as a sophomore. During the 2019-20 season, Bokina ranked second on the team in wins with 18, was first on the team with six major decisions, and represented the Bears at the EIWA Championships. Cabanillas placed seventh at the EIWA Championships in 2019-20 and was named a NWCA Scholar All-American last year.
The team's first event this season will be the Brown vs. White Wrestle-Offs this Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The Bears' first regular season event will be the Binghamton Open on Sunday, Nov. 14.
