Field Hockey Closes 2021 Season at #11 Harvard Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to close the 2021 season at 11th-ranked Harvard Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

- Brown enters the 2021 finale with a 6-10 overall record and 2-4 Ivy League mark. Seven of Brown's losses have been by a single goal and three have gone to overtime or a shootout.
- Danielle van Rootselaar leads the Bears offensively with 12 goals and 29 points. She is tied for the team lead with five assists with Lindsey Ross and Mikayla Walsh.
- With 1.81 points per game, van Rootselaar ranks 16th in the country. Van Rootselaar's 0.75 goals per game is tied for 18th in the country.
- Goalkeeper Jodie Brine has made 14 starts in 2021. She holds a 1.78 goals against average and .721 save percentage. Brine's goals against average and save percentage both rank 32nd in the NCAA.
- Brown's team .762 save percentage ranks 20th in the country.
- Harvard enters Saturday's finale as the 11th-ranked team in the country with a 14-1 overall record and perfect 6-0 Ivy League record. The Crimson's lone loss came in September, falling to then-16th ranked UConn in a shootout.
- Hannah Pearce leads the Crimson with 26 points this season behind 12 goals and two assists. Mimi Tarrant leads the team with nine assists and a total of 13 Harvard players have recorded two or more points this season.
- The Crimson's defense has been stellar this season, allowing 0.53 goals per game and a paltry 5.5 shots per game. On the other side of the field, Harvard's offense ranks 20th in the country, scoring 2.47 goals per game. Harvard's 1.90 scoring margin ranks seventh in the country.
- Goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo has started 13 of 15 games this season and holds a 0.44 goals against average and .846 save percentage. She has seven shutouts.
- As a team, Harvard ranks second in the NCAA in save percentage with a combined .848 save percentage.
- Saturday's game marks the 49th meeting between Brown and Harvard in a series dating back to 1973. Harvard holds a 28-12-8 record in the series.
- Brown looks to capture its first win over Harvard since 2014, when the Bears won in double overtime for its second straight victory over the Crimson.
