Volleyball hosts final home weekend of the season against Princeton and Penn

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball hosts Princeton and Penn in the final two home matches for the Bears this season. The match against Princeton will be on Friday (Nov. 5) at 7 p.m. and the Bears will take on Penn on Saturday (Nov. 6) at 5:30 p.m.
Both matches are streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN (16-4, 9-1 Ivy)
- Brown enters the weekend with a two-game lead in the Ivy League standings. The Bears are 9-1 in the Ivy League after sweeping both Columbia and Cornell last weekend.
- Brown's nine wins in Ivy League play are tied for the most wins in league play since 2005. The most wins in Brown's school history in league play was 11, set in 2001.
- Brown's 16 wins are tied for the most wins since 2001, the last year that Brown won the Ivy League. Brown could get to 20 wins for the first time since 1998 when the Bears won 23 games.
- Sophomore Kate Sheire was named Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Bears to the two wins. Sheire averaged 4.33 kills per set and hit .370 in the wins over the Lions and the Big Red.
- Brown comes into the weekend with the best hitting offense in the Ivy League. Brown is hitting .248 on the season as a team and is second in the league in both assists (12.27/set) and kills (13.66/set). Brown's 1011 kills on the season are the most in the Ivy League.
- On defense, Brown is allowing the third-lowest hitting percentage in the league at .179. The Bears are second in the league in blocks per set (2.31) and third in the digs per set (16.20).
- Beau Vanderlaan leads the Ivy League in hitting percentage as a freshman. Vanderlaan is hitting .380 and the second-highest qualifier in the league is hitting .358. Vanderlaan's 186 kills are the second-most of the top-ten hitters in the Ivy League.
- Sophia Miller sits fifth in the league with 3.37 kills per set. Sheire is seventh in the league at 3.26.
- Cierra Jenkins has increased her assists per set average to 10.25 on the year, which is third best on the season.
- Victoria Vo leads the defensive backline with the second-highest dig/set total in the Ivy League (4.72)
SCOUTING PRINCETON (13-5, 7-3 Ivy)
- Princeton comes in to the weekend having lost two-straight matches being swept by Harvard and losing in five sets at Dartmouth.
- The Tigers have the second-best hitting offense at .246 on the year and are the best defensive team, allowing opponents to hit .174.
- Princeton averages the most kills per set (13.97) and assists per set (13.06) in the league. Elena Montgomery is second in the league at 3.85 kills per set and Avery Luoma is sixth (3.32).
- On defense, Princeton leads the league in blocks per set (2.36) and is second in digs per set (16.26).
- In the first meeting of the season, Brown beat Princeton in four sets. Kate Sheire finished the match with 15 kills and nine blocks. Sophia Miller led the Bears with 18 kills.
SCOUTING PENN (6-13, 3-7 Ivy)
- Penn sits at 3-7 in the Ivy League and is coming off a win against Harvard its last time on the court. The Quakers will play at Yale before taking on Brown.
- While Penn is fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.209), the Quakers are allowing a league-worst .255 opponent hitting percentage.
- Penn sits sixth in the Ivy in blocks per set (.192) and seventh in the digs per set (13.95).
- In the first meeting this season, Brown beat Penn in four sets. The Bears hit .276 on the game, holding Penn to just .060 hitting.
