Water polo beats Harvard for third-place finish at NWPC Tournament

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown water polo finished third in the NWPC Tournament with a 15-13 win over Harvard on Sunday (Nov. 21). Connor Enright led the Bears with four goals in the win.
Brown earned its first win over Harvard in 1,142 days, last beating the Crimson on Oct. 6, 2018.
In a tight battle, Brown came in to the fourth quarter down by a goal but Stephen Salle tied the game with a goal less than a minute in to the quarter. 40 seconds later, Ben Kirshon's goal put the Bears ahead. Harvard responded to tie the game but Enright scored to again put Brown on top. The game was tied by Harvard with over three minutes left in the game.
The game remain tied until Cole Atwell put the Bears on top with a goal with 27 seconds on the clock. Ben Resko added a final goal with five seconds left for the two goal win.
Brown fell behind 2-0 early in the first quarter but Atwell and Enright scored a minute apart to make the game 3-2 in favor of Harvard. With 2:18 left Gabe Chang started a run for Brown. Chang and Atwell each added a goal putting the Bears up 5-3. A goal with seven seconds left in the quarter for Harvard made it 5-4 after one.
Harvard tied the game with a goal early in the second but the Bears responded with a goal by Penner to get back on top. Two minutes later, Atwell added a goal to increase Brown's lead to two. Harvard added a goal with under a minute in the half making Brown's lead 7-6 at the break.
Penner and Enright scored less than two minutes in to the second half to put Brown up three. Evan Moore answered a Harvard goal with 5:43 left in the quarter but the Bears would go scoreless the rest of the quarter as Harvard would score four goals to take a one goal lead.
