PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two members of the Brown football team have earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. The College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Football Teams recognizes the nation's top student-athletes across four divisions (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, NAIA) for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average while also being a starter or key reserve on the field.
Brown senior quarterback EJ Perry and junior wide receiver Wes Rockett have both been named to the Academic All-District team. It is Rockett's first Academic All-District honor, while Perry earns the distinction for the second year in a row.
The duo will both advance to the Academic All-America ballot, the results of which will be unveiled in mid-December.
A sociology concentration, Perry leads the Ivy in seven different categories, including total offense (349.2), points responsible for per game (19.6), passing yards per game (308.3), passing touchdowns (22) and completions per game (28.9) this season. Perry also ranks in the top 10 in FCS in total offense (6th), completion percentage (9th), completions per game (4th), passing yards per game (7th), points responsible for (8th), and points responsible for per game (7th). Earlier this season, he set a new Ivy League record by completing a touchdown pass in his 16th consecutive game, and also had an Ivy League record eight consecutive games with 300+ passing yards that spanned from Nov. 9, 2019 - Oct. 16, 2021.
Rockett has had a breakout junior season that has helped Brown's receiving core rank among the best in the FCS in several categories. A behavioral decision sciences concentration, Rockett currently ranks first in the Ivy and 15th in FCS with eight receiving touchdowns and is second in the Ivy in receptions per game, (5.9), and third in receiving yards (629). He is also sixth in the Ivy in all-purpose yards/game (83.2).
Rockett has registered at least 61 yards receiving in six games this season, and at least 75 yards four times. He also has a pair of three touchdown performances this season, coming against Princeton and Yale.
The Bears will close out the regular season this Saturday at noon against Dartmouth.
