Women's tennis completes competition at Brown Quad

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team hosted the Brown Quad this weekend, featuring teams from Boston College, Columbia, and Harvard.

"The Brown Quad was a very challenging event as we played three high quality teams in Boston College, Columbia and Harvard over three consecutive days," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "Our team stepped up to the challenge and battled hard each match. The energy, desire and fight was there. However, we need to continue to work on playing with greater confidence in crucial moments of the match, like Ali Benedetto and Sophie Reddy were able to do in their wins against elite level opponents.

"The good news is that we are putting ourselves consistently in a position to close out sets and matches, now the next step in the team's development is to trust the training, both physical and mental and play the pressure points with the same belief we have getting close to the finish line. There is no magic to it, just hard work, coachability, commitment to excellence and unwavering self-belief. We are on the right track."

On Friday, the Bears took on BC. Ali Benedetto earned a victory in singles, as did Olivia Mariotti. In doubles, Lindsey Hofflander and Addison Ahlstrom won in doubles, while Ryan Peus and Mariotti did as well.

Saturday saw Brown take on Columbia. Benedetto again won her singles match and Sophia Reddy earned a victory as well. In doubles, Hofflander and Reddy combined for a win.

The Bears wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with action against Harvard. Reddy and Ahlstrom won their singles matches, while Hofflander and Reddy as well as Mariotti and Peus earned wins in doubles.
