Volleyball travels to Columbia and Cornell for weekend matches

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball hits the road for two matches over the weekend, looking to bounce back from a five-set loss to Yale last weekend. The Bears will take on Columbia on Friday (Oct. 29) before traveling to Cornell on Saturday (Oct. 30).
The match against Columbia will begin at 7 p.m. and the match against Cornell will start at 5 p.m. Both of those matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown still sits tied for first in the Ivy League standings with a 7-1 record in league play and the Bears are 14-4 overall.
- The Bears enter the weekend with the second-best hitting offense at .247. Brown's 930 kills are the second-most in the league.
- On defense, Brown allows opponents to hit .184 on the year. The Bears are one of three teams in the Ivy League holding their opponents to under .200 hitting this season.
- Beau Vanderlaan continues to shine in the middle for the Bears, hitting a league-best .390 this season.
- Sophia Miller is sixth in kills per set (3.39) and Kate Sheire is seventh (3.18) in the Ivy League.
- After back-to-back matches with over 50 assists, Cierra Jenkins has jumped to third in the league with 10.30 assists per set.
- Victoria Vo has climbed to second in the Ivy League with 4.72 digs per set.
- Columbia is 5-13 on the season and 2-6 in Ivy League play. The Lions have lost their last two matches with a four-set loss to Rider and a five-set loss at Cornell.
- The Lions sit in the middle of the pack on both offensive (.208 – 5th) and defensive (.217 – 6th) hitting percentage.
- Columbia is second in the Ivy League with 12.31 assists per set. Cadence Gronski is second in the league with 10.53 assists per set.
- Noelle Foster is tops in the Ivy League in both total kills (260) and kills per set (4.00) this season.
- The first match of the season between Brown and Columbia was a four-set win for Brown but all four sets were very close (25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24). Columbia beat Brown in every statistical category but finished with five more errors than the Bears.
- Cornell is 6-10 overall and 2-6 in Ivy League play. The Big Red beat Columbia in five sets in its last match and will play at Yale before taking on Brown.
- Cornell is fourth in the hitting percentage (.211) and fifth in opponents hitting percentage (.211) on the season.
- Camryn Carlo and Sydney Moore are each tied for third in the Ivy League with 1.00 blocks per set.
- Casey Justus is tied for third with a .357 hitting percentage.
- The first meeting of the season against Cornell was a four-set win for Brown. Brown dropped the first set before storming back to win the next three. After hitting .08 in the first set, Brown hit over .200 in the next three. The Bears held Cornell to .130 hitting.
