Maloney Tabbed as Women’s Hockey Captain for 2021-22 Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown head women's hockey coach Meanie Ruzzi has announced senior forward Shay Maloney as team captain for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Maloney has served as an assistant captain for the Bears since her sophomore season in 2019-20.
Ruzzi also announced that senior forward Tina Paolillo, sophomore forward Madie Stockfish and senior goaltender Hayley Kliczko will serve as assistant captains.
Each student-athlete was selected for their captain/assistant captain roles by their teammates, with Maloney being the unanimous choice to wear the "C" for the Bears this season.
As a sophomore in 2019-20, Maloney led the Bears with 12 points, tying for the team lead with six goals. As a rookie in 2018-19, Maloney scored seven goals, had a team-high 11 assists and was second on the squad with 18 points. She also netted a team-leading three power play goals. A native of McHenry, Ill., Maloney has 13 career goals to go with 17 assists.
Brown opens up its season with four straight home games, including a pair of contests this weekend against Penn State at Meehan Auditorium on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
