Lomuscio Claims Second Straight Academic All-America Honor

AUSTIN, Texas – Brown University baseball rising senior Joe Lomuscio (West Roxbury, Mass.) has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second straight year, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.

Lomuscio, an outfielder, garnered Third Team Academic All-America honors. He was named to the Second Team last year and also earned Academic All-District accolades in 2019 and 2020. He was one of six repeat selections named to an Academic All-America team in 2020.

Lomusico, an economics concentrator, started all 12 games as the team's center fielder this season and was named an Academic All-Ivy selection. He led the Bears with six stolen bases and posted a .404 slugging percentage.

Lomuscio earned First Team All-Ivy honors last season after he led the league with 37 hits and recorded a .370 batting average in Ivy play.

The Massachusetts native is the program's third Academic All-America selection in the last four seasons along with Sam Grigo '18 in 2017.

The Academic All-District and Academic All-America Teams program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.
