
Gymnastics Collects All-ECAC, ECAC All-Academic Team Accolades

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University gymnastics has tallied five All-ECAC honorees, two ECAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and six ECAC All-Academic Team selections, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced on Monday.

Based off National Qualifying Score, the top six gymnasts on each event earned First Team All-ECAC honors, while the gymnasts ranked seventh through 12th gained Second Team All-ECAC accolades. In order to garner ECAC All-Academic Team plaudits, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above.

The Bears totaled six All-ECAC awards with freshman Lauren Lazaro (Wellesley, Mass.) gaining two awards – Second Team All-ECAC on both beam and floor. Sophomore Mei Li Costa (Lawrenceville, N.J.) earned First Team All-ECAC on bars, and junior Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) garnered First Team All-ECAC on beam. Junior Alyssa Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) collected Second Team All-ECAC on vault, and sophomore Sophia Petrillo (Stoneham, Mass.) took home Second Team All-ECAC on bars.

Hansen and Petrillo both garnered ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year laurels as two of the conference's four honorees for the award.

Brown's six ECAC All-Academic Team selections included Costa, Hansen, Petrillo, junior Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah), senior Erin Howell (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), and junior Caroline Warren (Pawleys Island, S.C.).
