Phil Goss Named Baltimore Sun National Player of the Week

Providence, R.I. - Nobody knew that the college lacrosse season was going to end in mid-March. In what turned out to be its final game of the season, Brown took on #8 Virginia at Stevenson-Pincince Field on March 8 and put its new Center for Lacrosse and Soccer on full display for all to see.
Before an overflow home crowd of over 1,900 fans, Brown senior All-American goalie Phil Goss (San Francisco, CA) put on a display in net that played a pivotal role in the Bears' 14-13 upset win over the defending national champion Cavaliers.
Goss was rewarded for his stellar play by being named the Baltimore Sun National Player of the Week, the final such award to be presented in the 2020 season. He was previously named the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Goss, a two-time All-American and All-Ivy selection, and a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award, was spectacular in goal, being peppered with 50 shots from the high scoring Cavaliers. He made nine of his 16 saves in the second half as Brown rallied from an 8-2 deficit with 1:18 left in the second quarter to gain the victory.
