Lee Wins All-Around, Gymnastics Places Second with 191.425 in Home Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Jasmine Lee won the all-around with a career-high 38.700 as Brown University gymnastics tallied a 191.425 for second place in a tri meet with the University of Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Lee (Bremerton, Wash.) took second place on bars (9.700) and second place on beam (career-high 9.800) on her way to winning the all-around title while fellow freshman Lauren Lazaro (Wellesley, Mass.) came in second on floor (career-high 9.850) and third on beam (career-high 9.775).

As a team, the Bears tallied four of the meet's top five scores on beam and three of the meet's top-five scores on bars. Brown notched season highs on beam (48.775) and floor (48.200) while compiling a 47.575 on vault and 46.875 on bars.
"We had a lot of great performances tonight, especially considering the quick turnaround from last night's meet," Brown head coach Sara Carver-Milne said. "We're looking forward to working hard over the next two weeks as we prepare for the Ivy Classic."

In the team standings, Bridgeport won the meet with a 192.350, Brown came in second with its 191.425, and Southern Connecticut placed third with a 190.025.

Junior Alyssa Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) led the Bears on vault with a 9.625 while Lee and freshman Ella Poley (Newton, Mass.) each tallied a personal-best 9.525. Lazaro followed with a 9.475, and sophomore Sophia Petrillo (Stoneham, Mass.) scored a 9.425.

On bars, the Bears notched three top-five scores behind a second-place 9.700 from Lee, a fourth-place 9.625 from Poley, and a fifth-place 9.600 from Petrillo.

Brown then totaled four top-five performances on beam, including a career-high 9.800 from Lee for second place. Lazaro and Petrillo each registered a personal-best 9.775 to tie for third, and junior Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) posted a 9.750 for fifth place. Junior Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) added a season-high 9.675.

Finishing on floor, Lazaro scored a career-high 9.850 for second place while Lee and Gardner each tallied a 9.675. Hansen and Howell notched a 9.550 and 9.450 respectively.

Next, Brown competes at the Ivy Classic against Cornell, Penn, and Yale in Ithaca, N.Y., on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 11:00 a.m.
