PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will host back-to-back games at the Center for Lacrosse and Soccer, welcoming No. 16 Dartmouth on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 12:00 p.m. to open Ivy League play, and entertaining Holy Cross on Tuesday, Mar. 3 at 4:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown fell to No. 17 Boston College, 13-10, on Tuesday at the Newton Campus Lacrosse & Soccer Field. The Eagles benefited from five free-position goals and held off a second-half charge by the Bears. Brown was led by senior KC Williams who scored a career-high four goals, including three in a row in the first half. Sophomores Alaina Parisella and Claire Jeschke added two goals apiece with Jescke also contributing a helper. Sophomore Erin Tucker kept the Bears in the game with a season-high 11 saves, including seven in the second stanza. The Eagles outscored the Bears 6-4 in the first half and 7-6 in the second. Junior Risa Mosenthal's impressive streak of 31 straight games with a point was snapped in the contest.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth is 2-0 so far this season and is ranked 16th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. The Big Green opened the year with a 15-11 win over No. 13 UMass on Feb. 15 and a 16-8 victory of Boston University in their last matchup on Feb. 22. Katie Bourque was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after logging a career-high seven points (5G, 2A) and adding seven draw controls in the team's win over BU. Bourgue leads the Big Green in scoring with nine points (5G, 4A) while Sophia Turchetta and Ellie Carson are tied for second in scoring with an identical seven goals and one assist. Kiera Vrindten has played the full 120:00 minutes in net and has comprised a 9.50 goals-against average and a .457 save percentage. Dartmouth finished tied for first in the Ivy standings last year with a 6-1 record and went 11-6 overall. The Big Green lost to Penn in the conference semifinals and were defeated by Colorado in their first game of the NCAA Tournament.
ALL-TIME VS. DARTMOUTH
The Big Green hold the all-time series advantage at 31-13. Dartmouth captured last year's contest 15-11 in Hanover, N.H. while Brown last won in 2018, 14-13, at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Holy Cross is 3-1 so far this season and will host Hartford on Saturday before playing the Bears. The Crusaders lost their last game, 13-7, at Siena on Wednesday and have wins against Fairfield (10-8, Feb. 8), UMass Lowell (13-5, Feb. 16) and Central Connecticut (16-1, Feb. 20). Jolie Creo leads the team in scoring with 16 points on 14 goals and two assists. Bryn Carroll sits in second with 12 points on 11 scores and one assist. Haley Walker leads Holy Cross' defense with seven caused turnovers and 11 ground balls. Grace Flink has started all four games between the pipes and has a 7.71 goals-against average and a .635 save percentage.
ALL-TIME VS. HOLY CROSS
Brown is 19-2 all-time versus Holy Cross and last played the Crusaders in 2018, winning 17-6 in Worcester, Mass. Holy Cross last posted a victory in the series in 2012, 11-10, on its home field.
BEAR LEADERS
Sophomores Sophia DeRosa and Claire Jeschke are tied for the team lead in scoring with nine points. DeRosa paces the team in goals (8) and adds one assists while Jeschke has seven goals and two helpers. Junior Risa Mosenthal sits behind the two with eight points on seven scores and one assist. Defensively, junior Mason Warble is tied with four other players with three caused turnovers while she leads Brown in draw controls (19). Sophomore Erin Tucker has started all three games in net and has a 9.11 goals-against average and a .449 save percentage. Tucker registered a season-high 11 saves on Tuesday against No. 17 Boston College, including seven stops in the second half.
CENTER FOR LACROSSE AND SOCCER
Brown unveiled its new Center for Lacrosse and Soccer at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Feb. 18. A premier facility for lacrosse and soccer that will enhance both the team and game day experience and replaces the existing press box and stands in the same location. The approximately 22,500 square foot building has a grandstand to accommodate 1,250 people, as well as concessions and restrooms located on the concourse level. The building will have event space for game-day hosting and team gatherings, new staff and team locker rooms, a training room, and players will have direct access to the field through a tunnel.
TOUGH COMPETITION
Brown will be playing its second-straight ranked opponent on Saturday in No. 16 Dartmouth after competing at No. 17 Boston College on Tuesday. The Bears are scheduled to play six more ranked opponents based on this week's IWLCA rankings (No. 1 UNC, No. 8 Florida, No. 12 Penn, No. 13 Princeton, No. 16 Dartmouth, No. 23 Virginia Tech).
CHASING CAREER MARKS
A 2019 First Team All-Ivy selection, junior Risa Mosenthal is chasing multiple program records. The Campton, N.H. native has recorded 113 goals and 18 assists for 131 points. Her 113 goals are already third-best at Brown while her 131 points are ninth.
FOWLER WITH THE HELP
Junior Maggie Fowler is currently ninth all-time at Brown in career assists with 38. Her 23 assists in 2019 led the team a year ago while her four helpers this season lead the Bears.
MOSENTHAL NAMED TO TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
Junior attack Risa Mosenthal was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List for the second-straight year on Feb. 13. A First Team All-Ivy selection in 2019, Mosenthal has led the Bears in scoring for two-straight seasons and registered 59 points on 51 goals and eight assists a year ago. She broke the school record for goals in a game with nine against Fresno State (Mar. 31), which also tied the Ivy League record. Mosenthal led the conference in goals per game (3.64) and was sixth in points per game (4.21) last season. As a freshman, Mosenthal was named Second Team All-Ivy and earned a spot on the Inside Lacrosse All-Rookie Team while leading the Bears in points (64) and goals (55). Her 55 goals were second best all-time at Brown for a season while her 64 points were the third highest. The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. The 20th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held May 28, 2020 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC.
WINNING AT THE DRAW
Brown is currently tied for seventh in the nation in draw control percentage, averaging a .653 win percentage. Junior Mason Warble leads with team with 19 draws on the season while senior KC Williams has recorded nine. The Bears tallied a season-high 18 draws against Siena on Feb. 18.
THREE IVIES RANKED IN NATIONAL POLL
The Ivy League - a consistent factor in the national women's lacrosse landscape - boasts a trio of ranked teams in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll. Penn (12), Princeton (13) and Dartmouth (16) are all ranked in the poll.
IVY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
The 2020 Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Tournament will be held at the site of the top seed on Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3 with the conference's top four teams playing in the tournament.

PRESEASON IVY LEAGUE POLL
Brown was selected to finish fifth with 57 points in the 2020 Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll. Princeton was predicted to finish first with 13 first-place votes and 125 points while Penn followed in second with three first-place votes and 112 points. Dartmouth (92 points) and Cornell (79 points) rounded out the top four while Harvard (48 points), Yale (36 points) and Columbia (27 points) finished sixth through eighth.
BEARS WELCOME EIGHT NEWCOMERS
Brown added eight players to its 2020 roster. The freshmen include: attack Nathalie Ahn, midfielder Essie Atherton, midfielder Lydia Bongiorno, attack Lily Hagerup, midfielder Emmie Lau, midfielder Mia Mascone, attack Gabby Sartori and defender Katie Silver.
2019 RECAP
Brown went 8-7 overall in 2019 and finished tied for fourth with Cornell in the Ivy League standings with a 4-3 conference mark, its best conference record since the 1999 season (4-3). A total of six Bears earned All-Ivy honors with Risa Mosenthal leading the group with First Team accolades. Mason Warble made the Second Team while Erin Schafer and Erin Tucker were picked Honorable Mention for the 2020 returning team members. Warble was also selected to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region Second Team after leading the Bears in caused turnovers (32) and ground balls (41). Her 32 caused turnovers are tied for fourth best in a season at Brown while her 41 ground balls were 15th. Warble ranked second in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.13) and was fifth in ground balls per game (2.73).
BEARS' DEFENSE AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS IN 2019
Brown ranked 11th in the country in 2019 in caused turnovers per game, averaging 11.33. Junior Mason Warble led the defense with 32 caused turnovers while sophomore Erin Schafer (22) and senior Emily Fyrer (20) forced 20 or more turnovers.
KEY RETURNERS
The Bears return six of their top seven scorers from last season, with junior Risa Mosenthal leading the squad with 51 goals and eight assists for 59 points in 2019. Junior Maggie Fowler (36-7-43), sophomore Claire Jeschke (16-8-24), sophomore Sophia DeRosa (14-7-21), senior KC Williams (18-1-19) and sophomore Alaina Parisella (14-2-16) also return.

Sophomore Erin Tucker returns between the pipes after earning Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors in 2019 while starting all 15 games in her rookie campaign. Tucker recorded an 11.54 goals-against average and a .428 save percentage and made double digit saves in eight games. She tallied a collegiate best 13 saves at Dartmouth and also added a career high six ground balls versus the Big Green. Junior Cait Barrett also returns after appearing in five games last season.
