
Takabayashi Breaks School Record as Women’s Swimming & Diving Concludes Day Two of the Ivy League Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's swimming & diving team concluded day two of the Ivy League Championships on Thursday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Sophomore Miku Takabayashi (Glastonbury, Conn.) highlighted the action for the Bears, breaking her own school record twice over the course of the day.
Brown sits in fifth place with 284 points while Harvard leads the pack with 510 points. Princeton (508) and Yale (353.5) round out the top three.
The 500 freestyle led off the night with freshman Audrey Orange (New York City, N.Y.) finishing third in the B-Final in 4:49.56 while senior Amelia Gilchrist (Greensboro, N.C.) came in fifth (4:50.95).
Takabayashi broke her 200 IM program record of 2:01.19 in prelims by swimming a 2:00.92. She came back in the night's A-Final with a time of 2:00.53 to finish sixth. Sophomore Audrey Lukawski (San Francisco, Calif.) competed in the B-Final and swam to a time of 2:03.27 (seventh) while freshman Sasha Liu (Piedmont, Calif.) (2:04.24, third) and junior Han Nguyen (Los Gatos, Calif.) (2:04.34, fifth) swam in the C-Final.
Junior Taylor Seaman (Brighton, Mich.) swam a personal best in the 50 freestyle while finishing third in the A-Final in 22.51. Junior Tory Center (Madison, Wis.) placed second in the C-Final of the event with a time of 23.34.
On the boards, junior Julia Feord (Royal Oak, Mich.) led the Bears in the B-Final with a score of 238.25 for sixth place.
The night closed with the 200 freestyle relay team of Seaman, Center, freshman Sage Matsushima (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and senior Marley Cross (Seattle, Wash.) taking fourth in 1:31.53.
The Bears will have their third day of competition at Ivy League Championship tomorrow (Feb. 21) with prelims starting at 11:00 a.m. and finals for the 1000 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter diving consolations finals and the 400 medley relay starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
