#12 Women' Squash Falls at #10 Virginia, 8-1

Charlottesville, VA - The 12th-ranked Brown women's squash team fell to the 10th-ranked University of Virginia squad, 8-1, in a match that was much closer than the final score indicated. Three of the Brown losses came in five games.

"We battled a strong UVA team," said head coach Stuart leGassick. "Athlete of the week Hannah Seckendorf '20 pulled out another super display. We won games, but could not quite convert them into matches won."

Senior Hannah Seckendorf was the lone winner for the Bears, coming away with a 17-15, 5-11, 13-11, 11-5 win at number three.

Junior Alexa Jacobs, playing at number one, fell 11-5, 11-13, 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, while sophomore Isabella Kearns battled at number six before falling, 7-11,11-6,12-10,6-11,11-4. Senior Scarlett Bergam also fell in five games at number seven, 8-11,4-11,11-5,11-4,11-5.

The Bears return to action at Amherst on Sunday, January 19 at 12 noon.
