BEANS PURCHASE, N.H. – The Brown ski team opened the 2020 season on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10 at the UConn Carnival at Wildcat Mountain. The Bears competed in the giant slalom on Thursday and the slalom on Friday.
"We're proud of our team results on Thursday," said head coach Alex Norden. "I think performance wise; we still have some work to do. That will come with more mileage and training. Our culture is in a great place though and I really believe in this team. I'm excited to see what unfolds this season."
Sophomore Avery Vilandrie (Peacham, Vt.) paced Brown in the season-opening race on Thursday, finishing fourth with an overall time of 1:34.70. Her first run time of 46.87 was the third fastest time for that heat. Sophomore Maggie Beardsley (Sandy Hook, Conn.) was close behind in fifth (1:34.75) while freshman Ariana Turner (Andover, Mass.) also made the top-10, placing eighth (1:37.23).

Brown next co-hosts the Brown/Babson Carnival at Proctor Academy in Andover, N.H. on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18.
