Gymnastics Adds Hyland as Volunteer Assistant Coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Alex Hyland, a former standout student-athlete at the University of Kentucky, will join the Brown University gymnastics program as a volunteer assistant coach and choreographer, Bears' head coach Sara Carver-Milne announced on Thursday.

Hyland comes to College Hill after a sensational four-year career at Kentucky. She became just the second athlete in Wildcats' history to make four consecutive NCAA national championship appearances, while also earning CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as a senior.

In her final season at Kentucky, Hyland earned WCGA All-America honors on both beam and the all-around, gained All-SEC honors on beam, and garnered SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades. She finished the 2019 regular season as the nation's No. 16 all-around performer.

During her time with the Wildcats, she captured All-SEC honors in all four seasons and won the 2017 SEC beam title. As a freshman, she claimed a spot on the 2016 SEC All-Freshman Team.

A native of Foxborough, Mass., Hyland earned a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Kentucky in 2019.
