EJ Perry Earns Gold Helmet Award As The New England Player of the Week

Providence, R.I. – The honors keep pouring in for Bears' junior quarterback EJ Perry (Andover, MA), who has been named the Jack Grinold/Eastern Mass. Chapter of the NFF Gold Helmet Award recipient as the outstanding player in New England last week for his play in leading Brown to a 35-30 season-opening win over Bryant on Saturday. Perry had previously been named the STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week and the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Week after accounting for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) and 410 yards of total offense in the win over the Bulldogs.
Making his Brown debut, Perry threw for 183 yards, completing 21-of-32 passes, and three touchdowns (4, 4, 6 yards) against the Bulldogs. The BC transfer ran for another 227 yards and two touchdowns, including a 94-yard touchdown run, the second longest rushing play in Brown football history.
Only Mark Kachmer's 95-run vs. Yale at the Yale Bowl in 2011 is longer than Perry's 94-yard TD scamper, which also matched the 94-yard run by Bob Flanders vs. Yale in 1968.
Perry's 227 rushing yards rank eighth in the Brown record book and are the most ever for a Brown quarterback. He is the first Brown player to rush for 100 or more yards since Seth Rosenbauer ran for 128 yards against Columbia in 2015.
Brown opens its Ivy League season on the road on Friday evening, September 27, in a nationally televised matchup against Harvard in Boston, Mass. Kick-off on ESPNews is 7:00 pm at Harvard Stadium.
