
Daly, Butler Pace Cross Country at Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown

JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – Senior Cameron Daly came in 13th place in the men's race, and junior Hannah Butler placed 36th on the women's side to pace the Brown University men's and women's cross country teams at the Boston College Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.
The Bears' women's team – ranked No. 6 in the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Rankings – came in 11th place out of 22 schools with 307 points while Brown's men's team – ranked No. 8 in the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Rankings – finished in 13th place out of 21 schools with 342 points.
Syracuse won both the women's and men's races, posting 35 points on the women's side and 64 points on the men's side.
Daly (Meredith, N.H.) completed the 8-kilometer course in the day's second race in a time of 24:43.7 for his 13th-place finish out of a field of 178 runners. Butler (Jamesville, N.Y.) finished the 5-kilometer course in the day's first race in a time of 18:12.0 for her 36th-place performance out of 195 runners.
On the women's side, Brown placed four runners in the top 60 behind Butler, junior Samantha Valentine (Middleton, Wis.), senior Chloe Conway (Manchester, N.H.), and junior Ally Hajda (Atlantic Beach, Fla.). Valentine came in 48th (18:25.1), Conway finished 57th (18:32.6), and Hajda placed 58th (18:33.2).
Also competing for the women, freshman Sarah Reichheld (Concord, Mass.) registered a time of 19:22.5, freshman Emma Madgic (San Maeto, Calif.) posted a time of 19:52.9 and freshman Amy Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.) crossed the finish in 20:11.4.
Supporting Daly on the men's side, junior Dominic Morganti (Syracuse, N.Y.) came in 71st with a time of 25:36.0, sophomore Griffin McCauley (Stone Mountain, Ga.) finished in 80th in 25:44.8, and junior David Scherrer (Virginia Beach, Va.) placed 84th in 25:51.9.
Also racing for the men, junior Ben McCoy (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished in 26:03.9, junior Hughes Benjamin (New Orleans, La.) tallied a time of 26:05.5, and junior Jared Yabu (Moraga, Calif.) notched a time of 26:13.0.
Next, Brown will compete on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.
