PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Brown men's rower Anders Weiss '15 (Barrington, R.I.) is set to represent the United States at the 2019 World Rowing Championships on August 25 to September 1 in Linz-Ottensheim, Austria.
Weiss, a former Olympian who returns to race at the World Championships for the fourth consecutive year, will team up with Ezra Carlson (Washington '17) in the men's pair event. The duo will be one of twenty-nine crews entered in the event this year.
The men's pair event is scheduled to kick off with the heats on Sunday, August 25, followed by the repechage and quarterfinal races on Wednesday, August 28. The semifinals will take place on August 29-30, before the finals on August 31.
Weiss finished 15th overall in the men's pair at last year's World Championship and most recently captured first place in the pair at the 2019 Senior World Championships Trials V to secure a ticket to Austria. He represented the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, where he took 11th overall in the men's pair, earning a spot in Rio after a victory in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
A four-year standout rower at Brown and a two-time All-Ivy selection, Weiss helped the Bears to a pair of runner-up finishes at the 2013 and 2014 EARC Eastern Sprints. He also rowed in the sixth seat of the varsity boat that earned a silver medal at the 2014 IRA National Championship.
