Lomuscio Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University baseball sophomore Joe Lomuscio (West Roxbury, Mass.) has earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.

Lomuscio put together an outstanding sophomore campaign as he started all 39 games as the team's center fielder. He led the Bears in several offensive categories, including a .339 batting average, as well as hits (59), runs (32) and at-bats (174). He also added four home runs, nine doubles and drove in 26 runs from the leadoff spot.

An economics concentrator, Lomuscio enjoyed a standout Ivy League season, as he hit for a .370 clip in league play to go along with a .540 slugging percentage and a .422 on-base percentage. Lomuscio added a 12-game hitting streak during the season and finished with 20 multiple-hit games.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
