
Wrestling Celebrates Season, Presents Team Awards at Year-End Banquet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University wrestling presented its team awards, honored its seniors, and celebrated a season that saw the Bears tally four NCAA qualifiers for the first time since 2002, as part of the program's annual year-end awards banquet at the Brown Faculty Club on Saturday night.

Head coach Todd Beckerman and the Bears reflected on a year in which Brown posted at least three NCAA qualifiers and six EIWA placers in back-to-back years for the first time since 2000, placed eighth as a team at EIWAs, marking the program's highest finish at the conference tournament since 2004, and totaled five All-Ivy selections for the first time since 2008

Senior Ian Butterbrodt (North Andover, Mass.) earned the team's Michael T. Wallace Most Valuable Performer Award as well as the Ralph Anderton-Edward Durgin Award, given to the wrestler who performed the best under pressure.

Senior Christian LaBrie (Exeter, R.I.) claimed the program's Most Improved Wrestler award while fellow senior CJ LaFragola (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) garnered the Rob Davidson Most Dedicated Wrestler Award.

Junior Zach Krause (Plainfield, Ill.) earned the team's Marvin Wilenzik Award, presented to the wrestler who gave the most back to the university, sophomore Hunter Kosco (Canal Fulton, Ohio) gained the Don Van Heest Award, given to the wrestler who fought back from adversity, and freshman Reese Fry (Manchester, Mich.) won the team's Artemis Joukowsky Award for Most Promising Freshman.
