
Women’s Water Polo’s Burns Gains CWPA Defensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo junior goalkeeper Lauren Burns has gained CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Tuesday.
A native of Long Grove, Ill., Burns posted 24 saves on a .750 save percentage last week alongside three assists as Brown went 3-0. She blocked 14 shots, while allowing just seven goals, to go with two assists in an 11-7 win over Whittier on Sunday. Burns stopped 10 shots, made an assist, and gave up just one goal in an 8-3 victory over Chapman on Saturday.
Burns helped the Bears open their eight-day, eight-game spring break trip to the state of California with three wins, extending their overall win streak to four games.
Next, Brown continues its spring break trip tomorrow, Wednesday, Mar. 27, with match-ups against Concordia University (4:30 p.m. ET) and No. 14 Long Beach State University (10:00 p.m. ET).
