
Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Yale in Ivy Home Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will host its first Ivy League contest on Saturday, March 16, welcoming Yale to Stevenson-Pincince Field for a 12:00 p.m. contest.

BEAR LEADERS
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in both goals and points with 26 goals and five assists for 31 points. Junior Emma DeGennaro is tied for second in the scoring column with 15 goals and two assists for 17 points while sophomore Maggie Fowler is the squad's assist leader with 11 helpers to pair with six goals for 17 points. Mosenthal leads the Ivy League in goals and is second in points while Fowler was third in assists. Defensively, sophomore Mason Warble has a team-high 12 caused turnovers, good for third in the conference (2.00 per game). In net, Erin Tucker has started all six games and has put together a 12.69 goals-against average and a .447 save percentage. She has registered double-digit saves in her last five-consecutive outings.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown was defeated by No. 12 Navy, 18-12, on Saturday, March 9 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. After the Midshipmen gained a 11-5 lead after one half of play, the Bears fought back to trail by just three (13-10) but were unable to get closer as Navy pulled away with a 5-2 scoring advantage the rest of the way. Sophomore Risa Mosenthal paced the Bears offensively with four goals and two assists, her third-straight game with at least a hat trick, while freshman Alaina Parisella contributed two goals and one helper. In addition to Mosenthal and Parisella, juniors Emma DeGennaro (1G, 1A) and KC Williams (2G) had multiple points. Freshman Erin Tucker finished the afternoon with 10 saves.
ALL-TIME VS. YALE
The Bulldogs hold a 36-7-1 advantage in the all-time series versus the Bears. Brown last won in 2011, an 11-4 victory in Providence, R.I. while Yale took last year's meeting, 19-17, in New Haven, Conn.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale has put together a 4-2 record so far this season and is 0-1 in the Ivy League, falling to then No. 12 Penn, 15-4, on March 2. The Bulldogs have wins over Quinnipiac (18-7, Feb. 20), Hartford (18-4, Feb. 26), Niagara (17-10, Mar. 7) and Canisius (17-7, Mar. 10). Olivia Penoyer leads the team in points with 27 on 17 goals and 10 assists. Jill Gollob has the team's goal lead at 20 and has one assist for 21 points, second best on the squad. Amelia Drake has started all six games in net and has a 10.22 goals-against average and a .357 save percentage. Clare Boone has seen action in five games (147:57 minutes) and has compiled an 8.92 GAA and a .436 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL RANKED NATIONALLY IN SCORING
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal is currently tied for fifth in the nation in goals per game (4.33) and is also 13th in points per game (5.17). The Campton, N.H. native led the Bears in scoring a year ago with 64 points while also notching a team-high 55 goals on her way to Second Team All-Ivy honors.
BEARS LEAD THE IVY LEAGUE IN CAUSED TURNOVERS
Brown leads the Ivy League in caused turnovers, averaging 11.5 per game. Sophomore Mason Warble leads the Bears with 12 caused turnovers while junior Emily Fryer and sophomore Risa Mosenthal have 10 and nine, respectively.
