
Women’s Swimming & Diving Moves Up to Fourth on Second Day of Ivy Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's swimming & diving team completed day two of competition at the Ivy League Championships on Thursday night at Denunzio Pool. The Bears sit in fourth place with 330 points through seven events while Harvard leads the pack with 526.50 points.
In the first final of the night, junior Amelia Gilchrist (Greensboro, N.C.) came in 13th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:52.28.
The Bears next took third and fourth in the B-Final of the 200 IM with freshman Audrey Lukawski (San Francisco, Calif.) claiming third with a time of 2:01.84 while freshman Miku Takabayashi (Glastonbury, Conn.) was right behind her at 2:02.09. Sophomore Han Nguyen (Los Gatos, Calif.) also placed seventh in the C-Final (2:04.98).
In the 50 freestyle, six Brown swimmers placed with sophomore Taylor Seaman (Brighton, Mich.) (23.08) and senior Maddie Salesky (San Rafael, Calif.) (23.28) competing in the A-Final, claiming fifth and eighth, respectively. The Bears then went 2-3-4 in the B-Final with sophomore Tory Center (Madison, Wis.) and freshman Andrea Wei (Hopkinton, Mass.) tying for second (23.40) and junior Marley Cross (Seattle, Wash.) finishing close behind (23.45) for fourth. Senior Tatiana Prendella (Bernardsville, N.J.) also finished in the B-Final with a time of 23.65, good for seventh.
On the boards, junior Julia Benz (Superior, Colo.) was Brown's top finisher on the 1-meter, coming in sixth in the B-Final with a score of 240.35.
To close the night, a team of Salesky, Seaman, Center and Cross finished third in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.67.
The Bears will have their third day of competition at Ivy League Championship tomorrow (Feb. 22) with prelims starting at 11:00 a.m. and finals for the 1000 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter diving consolations finals and the 400 medley relay starting at 6:00 p.m.
