Men’s Tennis Clipped by Cornell, 4-2, in ECAC Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Brown men's tennis team was defeated by fourth-seeded Cornell, 4-2, in the final day of the ECAC Championship on Sunday at the Hecht Tennis Center.
"My takeaway from this weekend is that we have the ability, work ethic, fight and grit to compete with anyone in this league," said head coach Tim Gray. "I am so proud of how these guys competed all tournament long. They never backed down, not once!"
Brown, the sixth seed, started the doubles round with a 6-4 win by junior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and sophomore Ben Collier (Darien, Conn.) in the third spot but Cornell would claim the point by winning tough matches in first (6-3) and second (7-5) doubles.
The Big Red gained a 3-0 lead by taking fifth and second singles to open the next round. Junior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) put the Bears on the board and gave them momentum with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 win in fourth singles. Freshman Robert Siniakowicz (West Windsor, N.J.) was up next in sixth singles and pulled Brown within one (3-2) with a 6-2, 7-5 victory. Cornell would take third singles to seal the match for the Big Red.
The Bears next host Boston College on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 5:00 p.m.
