
Women’s Soccer’s Carchio, Story Gain Spots in NEWISA Senior Bowl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer senior midfielders Abby Carchio and Celia Story have earned spots in the 2019 NEWISA Senior Bowl, the New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association announced on Wednesday.
The contest is slated for Saturday, Dec. 7 at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.
A three-time First Team All-Ivy selection, Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) posted nine points on three goals and three assists on the year despite missing seven games due to injury. She competed in all seven Ivy games, totaling seven points on two goals and three assists. In Ivy play, she led the league in assists and ranked fourth in points.
Carchio netted the game-winning penalty kick in double overtime against Penn and converted a penalty in the Bears' 4-1 shootout win over Monmouth in the first round of the NCAA tournament. A Senior CLASS Award Candidate for her accomplishments on and off the field, Carchio totaled 49 career points on 16 goals and 17 assists in 58 career games played.
A two-time team captain for the Bears, Story returned to the Bears in 2019 after missing the 2018 season due to injury, posting five points on two goals and one assist. For her career, the two-time All-Ivy selection tallied 35 points on 13 goals and nine assists in 62 career games played.
Story converted a penalty in the Bears' 4-1 shootout win over Monmouth in the first round of the NCAA tournament. She scored a goal in Brown's 4-2 win at Harvard, earning a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week.
In 2019, Brown won its first Ivy League title and made its first NCAA Championship appearance since 1994, advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Bears posted an overall record of 14-2-3, setting program records for wins in a season (14) and shutouts in a season (13). The Bears registered an undefeated mark in Ivy League play (6-0-1), finishing the year unbeaten in conference play for the first time since 1994. Brown tallied an unbeaten 11-0-1 mark at home with the 11 victories marking a program record for home wins in a season.
