Brandon Anderson and Tamenang Choh Power Brown Over NJIT, 79-63

Providence, R.I. - Senior Brandon Anderson (Mahwah, NJ) scored 26 points and junior Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) added 19 points to lead Brown to a 79-63 win over NJIT Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The win, Brown's 15thstraight non-league home win, gives the Bears a 4-1 mark on the season. NJIT falls to 2-4 overall.
"I'm proud of how we played and our defense was terrific in the first half," said Brown head coach Mike Martin. "We shared the ball extremely well and got to the paint. I have a lot of respect for NJIT, they're a really good team."
The Bears had 16 assists on 27 baskets (27-of-52), while NJIT had just four assists on 21 baskets (21-of-54).
Anderson connected on 7-of-18 field goals and 9-of-11 free throws, and grabbed a career high seven rebounds. Choh shot 8-of-15 from the field in scoring his 19 points, while also grabbing five rebounds.
Senior Zach Hunsaker (North Salt Lake City, UT) chipped in with 13 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. Bears senior center Matt DeWolf (Barrington, R.I.) handed out a career high four assists.
Brown had exceptional contribution from its bench. Sophomore David Mitchell (Roxbury, MA) pulled down a career high nine rebounds and Jaylan Gainey (Greensboro, MA) had five points and two blocked shots.
Zach Cooks paced the Highlanders, scoring 22 of his game high 30 points on the second half with 8-of-20 shooting from the field overall.
Brown dominated the opening 20 minutes, leading by as many as 26 points in the first half, 45-19, following a trey by Hunsaker with 1:30 remaining. A late NJIT 5-0 surge cut Brown's lead to 45-24 at the half.
The Highlanders opened the second half with a 16-5 run to cut Brown's lead to 50-40 on a long trey by Cooks with 14:35 remaining.
The Bears quickly recovered with a 7-2 run to grab a 57-42 lead at the 11:58 mark on Anderson's two free throws.
Brown went up by 17 points, 67-50, on an Choh basket in the paint with 7:20 remaining, taking control of the game once again.
The Bears have a midweek matchup at UMass Lowell on Tuesday, November 26 at the Costello Athletic Center. Tip-off is 5:00 pm on WPRV AM 790.
