
Field Hockey Hosts Penn on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown field hockey team will host its final home game of 2019, welcoming Penn to Goldberger Family field on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 12:00 p.m. The team will celebrate their seniors – Zoey Miller, Ali Dunning, Hannah Leckey, Corinne Condie and Gina Openshaw – in a postgame ceremony.

THE BEARS
Sophomore Danielle van Rootselaar leads the team in points with 18 on seven goals and four assist. She currently ranks ninth in the conference in points, averaging 1.20 per game. Senior Hannah Leckey is second in scoring for the Bears with four goals and two assists for 10 points and has one defensive save to lead the backs. Freshman Calista Manuzza has started eight games in the cage while fellow rookie Jodie Brine has started two contests while appearing in eight. Brine leads the duo with a 2.65 goals-against average, a .735 save percentage and a shutout (vs. Holy Cross). The two goalkeepers also combined for a shutout against Hofstra on Sept. 22.
SCOUTING PENN
Penn is 6-9 overall and is in a three-way tie for third place in the Ivy League with a 3-2 record. The Quakers fell in their last matchup, 1-0, versus Lafayette on Oct. 27. Penn's last victory came against Yale, 4-2, on Oct. 26. Elita Van Staden leads the team in scoring with 14 points, all on goals (7). Maddy Fagan is Penn's second leading scorer with 13 points (5G, 3A). Ava Tosati has started all 15 games in net and has a 2.69 goals-against average, a .592 save percentage and one shutout.
LAST TIME VS. PENN
An early first-half score by Penn proved to be the game winner as the Quakers topped Brown, 1-0, in last year's meeting on Oct. 27 at Ellen Vagelos Field. The Bears' defense played well in the contest, defending off 15 penalty corners. Senior Hannah Leckey recorded a defensive save while Katie Hammaker '19 tied her career-high with 14 saves.
