Cross Country Readies for Ivy Championships on Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Columbia's Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, Nov. 1 for the 2019 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. The women's race (6K) will start at 11 a.m. followed by the men's race (8K) at noon.

CHAMPIONSHIP OUTLOOK
The Brown women's team placed fifth at the 2018 Ivy Championship while Columbia won the team title. Junior Hannah Butler (Jamesville, N.Y.) has paced the program so far this season, leading the Bears in three of their races, which included a first-place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational. Junior Samantha Valentine (Middleton, Wis.) also won a race this season, leading Brown at the Rothenberg Run with a time of 17:17.2.

The men's team placed sixth at Heps last season and Princeton captured the team championship. Senior Cameron Daly (Meredith, N.H.) has been a consistent leader for the Bears this fall and has been the top finisher for the squad in two races this year. Junior Dominic Morganti (Syracuse, N.Y.) took first in the team's last action at the Rothenberg Run.

UP NEXT
After the Ivy Championships, Brown will head to Buffalo, N.Y. on Friday, Nov. 15 for the NCAA Northeast Regional meet at Audubon Golf Course.
