
Field Hockey Hosts Dartmouth on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown field hockey team will host Dartmouth at Goldberger Family Field on Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 12:00 p.m. The Bears look to even their conference record after falling at Columbia last week in their Ivy opener.

THE BEARS
Sophomore Danielle van Rootselaar leads the team in points with seven on three goals and one assist. Senior Gina Openshaw shares the squad's goal lead with van Rootselaar with her three tallies for six points. The Annapolis, Md. native is tied for 14th all-time at Brown with 18 career goals. Calista Manuzza has started three games in the cage and has a 4.00 goals-against average and a .579 save percentage. Manuzza and fellow rookie Jodie Brine combined for a shutout in Brown's 3-0 win over Hofstra on Sept. 22.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown was defeated by Columbia, 4-2, in its Ivy League opener last Friday at Columbia Field Hockey Stadium. The Lions scored once in both the first and second quarter and added two tallies in the third. The Bears received both their scores from sophomore Danielle van Rootselaar while freshman Calista Manuzza came up with a career-high five saves.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green are 3-5 (0-1 Ivy League), splitting their games last weekend with a 4-0 loss to No. 10 Princeton on Saturday and a 4-3 victory over UMass Lowell on Sunday. Dartmouth has had three overtime games this season and are 1-2 in those outings with its win coming at Holy Cross (2-1, Sept. 15). Carmen Braceras (5G, 1A) and Katie Spanos (4G, 3A) share the team's lead in points (11) which is tied for sixth best in the conference. Braceras is also tied for third in the league in goals (5). Isabella Santucci leads the Ivy League in saves per game (8.50) and has a 3.19 goals-against average and a .716 save percentage. Defensively, four different players have two defensive saves for the Big Green.
ALL-TIME VS. DARTMOUTH
The Big Green lead the all-time series, 29-12-2, and have won the last two contests. Brown last picked up a win in 2016, a 2-1 decision in Hanover, N.H.
