
Men’s Soccer Opens Ivy Play at Columbia on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will begin Ivy League play on the road at Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 1:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bears fell in both their matches last week with a 1-0 defeat at Providence on Wednesday and a 2-0 loss to San Diego State on Sunday. Max Gross posted a career-high nine saves against the Aztecs.
BEAR LEADERS
Eight different players have scored this season for Brown, with Alex Mina, Brady Van Epps, Malcolm Johnson and Michael Chung each recording a goal while Nicolas Perez has two assists to help pace the Bears. James Swomley leads the goalkeepers with four starts while Max Gross leads the Bears in goals-against average (1.20) and save percentage (.800). His .800 save percentage is tied for second best in the Ivy League while his 4.00 saves per game ranks fourth.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
The Lions enter the match-up with a 2-3-2 record and split last weekend with a 3-1 loss against LIU on Monday, Sept. 23 and a 2-0 win versus Monmouth on Friday, Sept. 27. John Denis leads Columbia in scoring with three goals and two assists while three players are second in scoring with five points, all with two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Michael Collodi was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday after earning his first collegiate shutout in the team's victory over Monmouth. He leads the team with a 1.90 goals-against average and a .657 save percentage.
LAST TIME VS. COLUMBIA
Columbia defeated the Bears, 3-1, in last year's Ivy opener in Providence. Toby Howell '19 scored for the Bears while Max Gross made four saves.
