Gymnastics Places Second at “Rumble and Tumble” Meet with 191.225

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University gymnastics placed second in a quad meet with a score of 191.225 in its fifth annual "Rumble and Tumble" meet with the Brown wrestling program on Saturday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
"As they always do, the fans created an exciting environment for us and for the wrestling program at our "Rumble and Tumble" meet," Brown head coach Sara Carver-Milne said. "We had a lot of great performances today and know that we can continue to improve throughout the season."
In the team standings, the University of Bridgeport won the meet with a 195.075, the Bears came in second with their 191.225, Hamline University placed third with a 188.425, and Rhode Island College finished fourth with a 177.850.
Individually, senior Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) tallied a career-high 9.850 for fourth on floor, and sophomore Kate Nelson (Montara, Calif.) tied a career best with a 9.825 on bars for second. Freshman Mei Li Costa (Lawrenceville, N.J.) came in third on vault with a 9.775, and senior Cassidy Jung (San Marino, Calif.) placed third on beam with a 9.725. Freshman Sophia Petrillo (Stoneham, Mass.) finished second in the all-around with a season-high 37.300.
As a team, the Bears scored a 48.225 on vault, a 47.450 on bars, a 47.350 on beam, and a season-high 48.200 on floor.
On the other end of the arena, five different Brown wrestlers won bouts, but the Bears fell to EIWA foe Binghamton, 19-15.
Costa led the Bears on vault with her 9.775 for third place. Both senior Gabrielle Hechtman (Bellmore, N.Y.) and sophomore Alyssa Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) scored a 9.700 – a season high for Gardner. Nelson and Petrillo added a 9.550 and 9.500 respectively.
On bars, Nelson paced Brown with a second-place score of 9.825, tying her career high. Costa supported her with a 9.800 for second place. Sophomore Caroline Warren (Pawleys Island, S.C.) and freshman Abby Walsh (White Lake, Mich.) posted a 9.525 and 9.250 apiece.
Jung tallied a team-high 9.725 on beam for third place, and sophomore Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) followed with a 9.650. Senior Morgan Hagenbuch (Norwich, N.Y.) scored a 9.450, and sophomore Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched a 9.425.
Finishing the event on floor, Green recorded a career-high 9.850 for fourth place. Domonoske and Petrillo each scored a 9.650, marking a career high for Domonoske. Nelson tied a career best with a 9.600, and Gardner tacked on a 9.450.
Next, Brown competes at Penn with Cornell and Ursinus on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 1:00 p.m. prior to hosting RIC and Southern Connecticut for a tri-meet on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 1:00 p.m.
