
Distance Medley Relay Earns Second Team All-America Honors at NCAA Championship

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The Brown University men's distance medley relay team finished ninth overall to earn Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship Friday night at Gilliam Indoor Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.
Brown bested its 12th seed as the final entry, moving up three spots for ninth overall at 9:40.24, placing ahead of Ole Miss, Georgetown and New Mexico. Virginia Tech captured the DMR title in a time of 9:30.76.
The relay team consisted of Zachary Lanigan (1,200 | 2:59.14), Tosin Oyewole (400 | 48.67), Zack Emrich (800 | 1:49.99) and Martin Martinez (1,600 | 4:02.46). The group earned one of 12 spots to the NCAA Championship by means of a fourth-place finish at the highly competitive UCS Invitational with a converted time of 9:29.90. The team also earned silver at the Ivy League championship for All-Ivy accolades.
The distance medley relay team is the fourth Brown All-American selection in track & field in as many seasons, after Shanelle DeJournett (2017, High Jump), O'Sha Williams (2016, Triple Jump) and Josie Natrasevschi (2015, Discus) all earned All-American recognition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
