
Women's Tennis Edged by Middle Tennessee, 4-3

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Brown women's tennis team was edged by Middle Tennessee, 4-3, on Sunday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center & Bartzen Varsity Courts.
The Bears won doubles against the Raiders with 6-3 victories in both the second and third spot. Junior Katie Ta (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and sophomore Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) paired up for the first win in second doubles while senior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) and freshman Semi Oloko (Canton, Mass.) claimed the point for Brown.
Middle Tennessee tied it up by taking the fifth singles match to open the round. Senior Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) gave Brown another lead when she took a 6-4, 6-2 decision in second singles. The Raiders and Bears switched points again with MT winning third singles while Benotto won in the first spot, 6-3, 7-5. Middle Tennessee was then able to take the match with two three-set match wins in fourth and sixth singles.
The Bears will have a week off and next return to action at the Pizzitola Sports Center against Stony Brook on Saturday, March 17 for a 12:00 p.m. match.
