
Women's Tennis Dominates Stony Brook, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team overpowered Stony Brook and defeated the Seawolves 6-1 on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Senior Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) and freshman Courtney Kowalsky (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) teamed up for the first win of the day (6-2) in first doubles. Senior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) and freshman Semi Oloko (Canton, Mass.) next won the doubles point with a 6-2 showing in the third spot.
Stony Brook would win first singles to open the round but that would be its only victory of the day as the Bears closed with five-straight wins. Benotto posted a 6-0, 6-1 win in second singles and Kowalsky followed in the fifth spot (6-1, 6-0). Sophomore Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) took home a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win in fourth singles while sophomore Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) came back to win third singles, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Junior Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) closed out the day with a 7-5, 6-1 win in sixth singles.
The Bears next host Providence at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Thursday, March 22 for a 3:30 p.m. match.
