PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University softball beat Princeton University, 5-0, in game one -- shutting out the Tigers for the first time since 2010 – and fell, 7-1, in game two in an Ivy League softball doubleheader at the Brown Softball Field on Saturday afternoon.
In their first conference and home games of the year, the Bears (6-10, 1-1 Ivy) scored four runs in the top of the first in their game one win before the Tigers (3-15, 1-1 Ivy) plated six runs in the bottom of the second to take game two.
Junior Cat Seitz (Poway, Calif.) went 3-for-5 with a double, RBI, and run between the two games while senior Annie McGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) hit a three-run triple in game one. Sophomore pitcher Emily Waters (Northridge, Calif.) did not allow a run over 7.0 innings of relief on the day.
Princeton acted as the "home" team in both games as the series was originally slated for the Tigers' Class of 1895 but was moved to Brown due to weather.
Next, Brown concludes its series with Princeton tomorrow, Sunday, Mar. 25, with a single game at 12:30 p.m.
