
Fencing's Golash Begins Competition at NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Brown University women's fencing freshman Signe Golash made her debut at the NCAA Championships, competing in women's sabre on Thursday at Pennsylvania State University's Multi-Sport Facility.
A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Golash earned a 5-3 win over Kerry Plunkett of Temple on the first day of the NCAA Championships. Overall, she went 1-14 with a -47 indicator and stands in 24th place out of 24 competitors in women's sabre.
During the regular season Golash finished in 10th place in women's sabre at the NCAA Northeast Regional and went 33-2 in Northeast Fencing Conference competition.
In the team standings, Brown ranks 24th out of 24 schools.
Next, Golash will conclude her stay at the championships tomorrow, Friday, Mar. 23, with rounds four and five beginning at 9:00 a.m. and semifinal and final competition slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
