#11 Women’s Squash Takes Down #18 Bates, 7-2

Providence, R.I. -  On the opening day of the 2018-19 squash season, the eleventh-ranked Brown women's squash team easily handled #18 Bates, earning a 7-2 victory over the Bobcats at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion.
 
"The first competitive match of the season is always a little nerve-wracking for players and coaches as you do not know how the team is about to play," said Brown head coach Stuart leGassick. "Everyone is very pleased this evening as both teams, on the whole, played really well against strong Bates squads. We are now looking forward to Yale on Wednesday."
 
After dropping the first two matches, Brown earned strong wins in matched three through nine. Seven of the matched were decided by 3-0 scores, with freshman Abigale Dichter at number three, freshman Isabella Kearns at four, senior Katrina Northrop at five, junior Scarlett Bergam at seven, sophomore Catherine Kimmel at nine and snior Hannah Safford at nine. FreshmanSarah Syed captured a 3-1 victory at number six.
 
Coach leGassick's women's squash squad will wrap-up its first semester on Wednesday, December 5, traveling to New Haven, Conn. to battle Yale at 6:00 pm.
