
Women’s Soccer’s Etzel, Caruso Gain Spots in NEWISA Senior Bowl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel and midfielder Jennifer Caruso have earned spots in the 2018 NEWISA Senior Bowl, the New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association announced on Friday.
The contest is slated for Saturday, Dec. 1 at noon at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.
Etzel (Madison, Conn.) concluded her career ranked second all-time at Brown in GAA (0.81), tied for second in shutouts (23), tied for third in wins (32), eighth in saves (259), and eighth in save percentage (.838). A three-time All-Ivy and two-time All-New England selection, the 2016 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year also earned selection as a Senior CLASS Award Candidate for her achievements on and off the field.
Caruso (Brockton, Mass.) finished her career with 59 games played, 34 games started, 16 points, five goals, and six assists. As a junior, she set career highs in points (10), goals (three), and assists (four). Off the field, she has served as a research assistant at Women and Infants Hospital and as an intern at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
The duo helped Brown finish the year with a record of .500 or better for the fourth straight season. The Bears concluded the season with 29 goals, marking their highest goal total since netting 37 goals in 2006.
