Men’s Basketball Earns 86-66 Win Over Army For Unbeaten Record in the Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic

Providence, R.I.- Brown won its third straight game at the 2018 Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic, earning an 86-66 win over Army Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Junior Brandon Anderson (Mahwah, NJ) paced five double figure scorers for the Bears with 16 points.
The Bears won all three of their games in the three-day Brown Bears Tip-off Classic and sophomore Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN) was named the Tournament MVP. Anderson and sophomore Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) were also named to the All-Tournament Team for the Bears.
In the first game of the tournament on Sunday, UMass Lowell came away with a 94-90 win over Sacred Heart.
"This was a good one for us and a great way to finish the weekend," said Brown head coach Mike Martin. "I feel good about our play for the full 40 minutes. We were strong at the free throw line and we had a really good offensive weekend because of the play of our guards."
Brown converted 23-of-32 free throws, while Army connected on just 5-of-9 shots from the line. The Bears also had a decided advantage on the backboards, out-rebounding Army by a 50-33 margin.
Anderson connected on 4-of-8 field goals for the Bears, including 3-of-5 treys, while converting 5-of-6 free goals. Cambridge completed a big weekend with 13 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots.
Choh posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Zach Hunsaker (North Salt Lake City, UT) scored 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field with two treys. Senior Obi Okolie (Ajax, Ontario) was Brown's fifth double figure scorer with 10 points, and junior Josh Howard (Charlotte, NC) had eight points and 10 rebounds.
Army was paced by Tommy Funk, who scored 15 points and handed out five assists. Matt Wilson added 14 points and was named to the All-Tournament team for the Cadets.
Brown led from start-to-finish and built a 20 point lead at intermission, 46-26. The Bears finished the half with a 15-4 run, sparked by Hunsaker, who scored Brown's last seven points of the half.
The Bears led by as many as 27 points in the second half, 61-34, with 14:29 remaining, on a steal and a layup by Hunsaker.
Brown hosts Salve Regina on Wednesday, November 21, Thanksgiving Eve, at the Pizzitola Sports Center, starting at 3:00 pm. Follow all the action on ESPN+ and WPRV AM 790.
