Women’s Rugby Falls at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – The Brown women's rugby team was defeated by Dartmouth, 75-17, on Saturday afternoon at Brophy Field in the NIRA Quarterfinals.

"Despite being held scoreless in the first half, we rallied to score 17 points to finish the game better than when we started," said head coach Kathy Flores. "I'm very proud of the team's continued fight through the final minutes of the game."

The Big Green opened the match with 51-straight points off of eight tries, four conversions and one kick. Dartmouth started the second with three-consecutive scores (68) before freshman Zy Thomas (Fairfield, Calif.) got the Bears on the board with a try off of a scrum at the attacking 10.

Dartmouth added one more try and a conversion before Brown closed out the match strong with two-straight tries. Sophomore Marion Sellier (Palo Alto, Calif.) provided the first score when she outran the Big Green from inside the Bear 10. The fullback also added the conversion to bring Brown's total on the day to 12. Senior Louise Leitao (Porto Alegre, Brazil) capped off the match with an impressive try by weaving through defenders from inside the Brown 50.
