
Women's Rugby Defeated at Norwich, 45-31

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Brown women's rugby team was defeated by Norwich, 45-31, at NU Dog River Rugby Pitch on Saturday afternoon in its first regular season action. Freshman Marion Sellier (Palo Alto, Calif.) led the Bears on the day with two tries.
Norwich (2-1) opened up the afternoon with a 19-7 lead. Sellier later answered for the Bears with her first try of the day and put Brown within striking distance (19-12).
At the end of the half, Brown's defense held off the Norwich attack at the 5m line to go into the break trailing by just seven, 19-12.
The Bears (0-1) sprinted out to a try just two minutes into the second to pull within two and bring the contest to 19-17. Norwich countered to regain a 26-17 advantage. Brown again moved to within two (26-24) when junior Louise Leitao (Porto Alegre, Brazil) scored off a Norwich scrum while freshman Olivia Duba (San Ramon, Calif.) converted the kick.
The Cadets again responded, this time with three-straight tries to claim a 45-24 lead.
Sellier added her second try of the game and Duba converted the kick to bring the match to its final of 45-31.
Brown will next host Harvard on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Marvel Field in a 2:00 p.m. match.
