
Gymnastics' Morant, Mitchell Take Home ECAC Weekly Honors

DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Caroline Morant won ECAC Gymnast of the Week honors for the third time this season and for the second time in the last three weeks while senior Jorden Mitchell earned ECAC Coaches Choice accolades, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Morant won her fifth vault title of the year and posted the Bears' top score on three events – vault, bars, and floor – at a tri-meet at the University of New Hampshire with Yale on Sunday.
The Hinsdale Central High School product tied her season high in the all-around with a 39.075, finishing in third place while posting identical 9.800 scores on vault, bars, and floor and adding a 9.675 on beam.
Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.) competed in the all-around for the first time this season and scored a 38.100 for fifth place. She scored a 9.750 on floor and a 9.725 on beam as part of her performance.
For the season, Morant ranks first in the ECAC, sixth in the Northeast Region, and 51st in the nation with a 38.955 RQS in the all-around.
The Bears compete at Bridgeport with Rhode Island College and Southern Connecticut tonight, Tuesday March 7, at 6:00 p.m. prior to competing at Springfield with SUNY Cortland and RIC on Saturday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m.
