
Softball's Okimoto Wins Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, N.J – Brown University softball freshman shortstop Kaitlin Okimoto has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors after recording a .462 batting average over five games last week, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Burbank, Calif., Okimoto posted a .462 batting average (6-for-13), a run, a double, an RBI, a walk, and a .500 on-base percentage last week. She went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and a double against Fordham. She finished 2-for-3 at FAU and went 1-for-2 vs. LIU Brooklyn.
The John Burroughs High School product gained weekly honors from the conference for the first time in her career.
Okimoto and the Bears next play at Seton Hall's Pirate Invitational from Mar. 17-19 with Brown opening competition on Friday, Mar. 17 against Saint Peter's (10:00 a.m.) and Seton Hall (12:30 p.m.).
